In what was quite possibly the most difficult “Man of the Match” decision of the season, Nick Rimando came in slightly above Kyle Beckerman. Make no mistake about it, Kyle was masterful against L.A. He looked as good as he has ever looked and put every ounce of himself into the match. He scored the game-tying goal in the dying seconds of the game and he did it with his left foot no less. He deserves all the accolades.
However, Nick had what was probably his best game of the year. He was busy all night long with the Galaxy looking more dangerous than usual. Not only that, they had an extra man on the field for most of the game. Rimando looked confident and quick, making a total of six saves. Each save gave RSL a chance to get a result and it eventually paid dividends.
Everyone earned that point in L.A. It just wouldn’t have been a possibility without Rimando, the GOAT, in goal.
