Rumors about Real Salt Lake establishing an NWSL team in the greater Salt Lake area look to be coming to fruition after several years of them simmer, with the club set to make what they’re calling a “historic addition to the Utah sports and entertainment landscape.”

The announcement, which will take place at 11 a.m., will feature RSL owner Dell Loy Hansen and Utah Governor Gary Herbert — a clear statement about the intended magnitude of the announcement.

No other Real Salt Lake figure has been announced as being involved in the press conference, which can lead us to plenty of speculation about the nature of the announcement.

Rumors have been swirling over the last couple days about an NWSL team finally coming to the RSL organization.

No announcement has yet been made in regard to any streaming of the press conference, though the club has fairly consistently ensured streaming options have been available in recent months.
