Unsourced rumor pegs Movsisyan for Kazakhstan move

Don’t believe everything you read.

A single, unsourced report from Kazakhstan outlet Sports.kz has a blast of rumor-mongering for us here in the Real Salt Lake sphere: Yura Movsisyan, they say, could be going to Kazakhstan.

The report doesn’t specify which club Movsisyan would join, and it certainly doesn’t establish whether it would be a transfer or a loan or something similar.

That single report has been re-reported in several Russian-language outlets and one English-language outlet focused on Armenian sports. They all reference the same Sports.kz report.

How likely is it this will happen, then? Well, a loan move to Slavia Prague that was rumored earlier this year fell through, but that was midseason, and RSL general manager Craig Waibel later said that Movsisyan wanted to stay at the club at that time.

But on the other hand, one Kazakhstan club might make sense: Astana, who are currently in the group stage of the Europa League. They’re sitting in third place in Group A — their final match is against Slavia Prague, and a win there might provide some incentive to bring in a player like Movsisyan.

The popular expression about smoke and fire and whatnot? I don’t think that applies here. At best, this might be a rumor filled with steam. We’ll find out soon enough, I’m sure.
