Jordan Allen showed us once again that he is ready to put to rest the “Swiss Army Knife” nickname. If preseason is any indication, he is on a mission to lock down the forward spot that was left up for grabs when Burrito made his exit.
Allen has now scored twice from that position in preseason and his goal against Vancouver was an impressive one that required a first touch off his chest and a quick decision with a keeper rushing at him. He slotted it past him with poise and tied the game for RSL late.
Rusnak and Plata deserve plenty of credit for the build up to that goal, but without Allen’s finishing ability, there is no goal or tie. Allen looks like a lock to start the season in that desired spot and we’ll see if he can continue this high level play when it counts. For now, he is one of RSL’s best players through the run up to start the 2017 campaign.
