Jordan Allen and Justen Glad are set to both extend their Real Salt Lake careers, as both players signed new contracts with the club, according to club-issued release.
Allen and Glad both joined the club in 2014, Allen signing after RSL’s 2013 campaign and Glad signing mid-year.
In the release, RSL general manager Craig Waibel said the two are success stories for the club’s academy setup, from which both players emerged.
We are extremely proud of the players that Martin Vasquez has been able to develop at our Academy since it opened its doors in 2010. The Academy has been a priority for Real Salt Lake and the benefit of that comes in producing top-level talent that can represent the club for years. As an organization, we could not be more pleased with the way Justen and Jordan have represented the club at the professional and international levels while also showing to be vital parts of the Salt Lake City community. Who they have become as men is as admirable as anything they’ve done on the field and it is appropriate to reward those efforts.
Both represent an opportunity for Real Salt Lake to establish a new core group of players, with figures like Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando nearing the twilight of their careers. Should they find themselves able to take even part of the responsibility the veteran core of 2008 to 2015, they could end synonymous with the club and all it represents — or can represent.
