Younger RSLers star as U.S. U-20’s down St Kitts and Nevis

RSL’s players featured heavily in the 4-1 win.

Friday’s match against St Kitts and Nevis played out mostly as we thought it would, with the U.S. scoring four straight goals before the opponent put one in to end the game with a 4-1 score line that favored the United States.

Several Real Salt Lake players came away with highlights in the match, mostly for the right reasons. Brooks Lennon had a cool finish inside the box for the second goal, while Sebastian Saucedo added goals three and four for the Red, White, and Blue. Both Saucedo goals were from outside the box, the second on a free kick from distance that curled majestically around the wall.

Justen Glad made the highlight reel as well, when he misplayed a ball in the 77th minute that led to the lone goal from St Kitts and Nevis. On the bright side, it is possible that Glad is secretly auditioning for Javy’s spot in the #10 role and couldn’t resist playing a man through on goal. Whatever the case, it didn’t hurt the U.S. too much as they will advance to the next round of qualifying.

The U-20’s will emerge as the 2nd place team from group A and will play Mexico on February 27th.
