Olmes Garcia is free to find another club after San Jose Earthquakes released the striker with just a week left until the season restarts.
That’s according to a report on SB Nation blog Center Line Soccer.
Former Real Salt Lake forward Olmes Garcia, who the Quakes selected in the second stage of the Re-Entry Draft is no longer with the team, according to general manager Jesse Fioranelli.
“We have released him,” said Fioranelli matter of factly.
That’s certainly a surprise after the Quakes picked up Garcia in the second stage of the 2016 MLS Re-Entry Draft. He’d had some success in preseason but is apparently surplus to requirements.
Garcia played for four years at Real Salt Lake; his most successful season came in his first year. He scored five goals and had a further four assists in 2013 as he helped push RSL toward an eventual MLS Cup Final spot.
