Real Salt Lake’s match tonight against Portland Timbers marks the start of the second leg of their preseason, and with it, we’ll want to see definite progress in the shape, style and approach of the team.
And you know what? We’ll get a chance to do just that. So watch, yeah? I know, I know. It starts a little late for some of you. It’ll be OK. Don’t worry.
Match details
- Time: 8:30 p.m. Mountain, 7:30 p.m. Pacific (local time)
- Location: Providence Park; Portland, Oregon
- Live stream: YouTube, RSL.com
Lineup news and thoughts
- Nick Rimando is back with the team, but don’t be shocked if we don’t see him at all.
- Will we see Kyle Beckerman? Nope. He’s dealing with a bone bruise, and Jeff Cassar told the Salt Lake Tribune about it. His main quote? “This isn't about a game against Portland, it's about getting ready for the season.”
- Justen Glad, Sebastian Saucedo, Brooks Lennon, and Danilo Acosta are away with the U.S. U-20 team.
- Expect to see another look at a center back tandem — but that might not just be about first-choice pairings. Preseason’s an opportunity for all players to get time together, so expect to see more of that.
- At least some of the Real Monarchs contingent made the trip to Portland, so we’ll see whether they play or not.
