In a tale of two halves, RSL dropped their second straight as they lost 2-1 at home to the LA Galaxy.

RSL came out swinging in the early minutes with a youthful attacking lineup which included Bofo Saucedo on the left and Brooks Lennon on the right. RSL controlled much of the tempo and momentum in the first half as they found a depleted LA on their back foot.

Salt Lake had two corners within the first 15 minutes before they opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a header from Yura Movsisyan. Albert Rusnak’s ball in found Movsisyan on the jump who was able to redirect it perfectly past LA ‘keeper Clement Diop to put the claret and cobalt up 1-0.

RSL’s control of the game was brought to a halt when captain Kyle Beckerman was sent off in the 44th minute for a rough tackle on Joao Pedro, which referee Sorin Stoica felt worthy of a second yellow and sent the home side down to 10 men going into the halftime break.

The second half saw the tides turn quite a bit as LA found themselves in control of the game over a short-handed RSL.

While referee Stoica ignored shouts for yellow cards from Salt Lake players and fans, the Galaxy found an equalizer in the 70th minute by way of Dave Romney off a corner kick.

Chad Barrett saw a golden opportunity in the 72nd minute as he found himself behind the Galaxy defense and beat the keeper, but his shot nicked the post and went out for an LA goal kick.

The Galaxy found another goal in the 74th minute when a cross in front of goal found a wide open Boateng who was able to calmly put it past Rimando to put the visitors up 2-1.

With RSL receiving five of the seven yellow cards given out on the night, the game ended 2-1 to see LA get their first win of the year while Salt Lake falls to 0-2-1, winless in three to start the season.
