It appears as though Chad Barrett will miss the rest of the 2017 season — or, at least, most of it.
Barrett tweeted today that he will undergo surgery for the same injury that kept him out of last week’s 0-0 draw with the Red Bulls.
No easy way to say or take this. My injury is requiring surgery and I will miss most this season. I'm gutted but I know the boys will make..— Chad Barrett (@CBarrett19) March 28, 2017
Playoffs and allow me to don the Cobalt again before this season is over.— Chad Barrett (@CBarrett19) March 28, 2017
Barrett has played 68 minutes this season and came off the bench in each of the first three games of the season, solidifying himself as the go-to backup for striker Yura Movsisyan.
This only adds to RSL’s injury woes, as interim coach Daryl Shore will have to look further into the squad’s depth to find a quality replacement.
Details on the surgery and an exact timeline for Barrett’s recovery are unclear at this time, but we’ll update this story as we find out more information.
