Acosta, Lennon help USA to CONCACAF title with penalties

The U-20s finished triumphant over Honduras after extra time.

If you had Brooks Lennon as the U.S. U-20s’ savior in the CONCACAF U-20 championship, you're not wrong.

But it was all about Danilo Acosta tonight, with the Real Salt Lake man finishing the fifth of five penalties as the U.S. team broke the deadlock after a 0-0 tie with Honduras.

Worryingly, Justen Glad was substituted only minutes into the second half with a knee collision. There's not yet any official word on his status heading into Real Salt Lake’s season, but it's easy to imagine some caution being exercised.

However, RSL commentator Brian Dunseth indicated a largely positive outcome for Glad.

Real Salt Lake’s four-strong contingent, including Brooks Lennon, Danilo Acosta, Justen Glad and Sebastian Saucedo will now likely be given a couple days off after a quick-turnaround tournament before being wholly integrated into RSL’s training sessions.
