Did we see Albert Rusnak have his coming out party on Saturday? It sure seems so.
In what was likely to be a chaotic game against the Whitecaps with rain and snow pouring down on Rio Tinto Stadium, Rusnak took full advantage of the conditions and had the kind of game fans have been waiting for.
He put Real Salt Lake on the board with the first goal of the game using some confident footwork. Then he helped get Yura Movsisyan on the score sheet as well with a precise, forward-thinking pass. Finally, one of his ten corner kicks found its mark when Mulholland got on the end of nicely taken corner into space giving RSL the insurance goal they needed to get their first win since last August. Without an impressive save from Ousted, Rusnak very well could have had at least one more goal, especially with the cannon he fired from the top of the box.
Even so, he ended the game with a goal and two assists which is impressive in ideal weather conditions.
Many other scoring chances came through the feet of Rusnak and he seemed to find his footing on snow of all things.
