If you’re a Real Salt Lake fan who was worried about facing the Colorado Rapids with Tim Howard in goal, then worry no more: Major League Soccer just issued a suspension at 8 p.m. on a Friday.
What’s he out for, you ask? Foul language — directed at a fan. It’s a suspension that MLS termed being for “inappropriate fan interaction.” It’s hard to remember the last time that happened, and certainly it’s hard to remember the last time it happened to a marquee player like Howard.
That came in a match against Sporting Kansas City, and let me be the first to saw: We get it, Timothy. Maybe you shouldn’t have, but we totally and completely get it.
This certainly hobbles the Rapids, who rely on Howard on a weekly basis. We’re likely to see Zac MacMath against us in goal, who played 17 games in goal for the Rapids last year before being unceremoniously dropped for an incoming Howard.
