Player ratings: Sporting KC 3-0 RSL

RSL had a lackluster performance in Kansas City.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Sporting KC Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Van Oekel - 5.5 A few goals made their way into the net when Van Oekel was on duty, but neither was his fault. He made four saves to keep the scoreline from getting really ugly. That header save though...

Danilo Acosta - 4 Acosta had some good moments defensively, but his touch on the first Sporting KC goal was bad enough to give them a clear scoring chance.

Chris Schuler - 6 Schuler was RSL’s most consistent defender on the night, which isn’t to say he had a perfect night. He was simply the best for them and didn’t take any grief from anyone.

Chris Wingert - 3.5 Wingert got beat badly a few times and one of those times, Dom Dwyer was able to capitalize. In fairness to Wingert, he shouldn’t have to play center back.

Demar Phillips - 5 Phillips took a hard hit, stapled the cut, and came back on to do pretty well. He was unable to shut down Zusi, but who is?

Stephen Sunday - 5 Sunny did break up play a decent amount in the absence of Beckerman, but he wasn’t making too much happen offensively.

Luke Mulholland - 5.5 Luke was having a pretty good night for himself on defense and stopped KC’s attack when things were getting shaky a few times.

Albert Rusnak - 6 Rusnak was having the kind of night where it seemed like he was on the cusp of something good happening. If just a tiny bit more space opened up, we likely would have had a goal.

Joao Plata - 5.5 Plata found himself with the ball at his feet quite a bit, he just couldn’t break down the defense. He was threatening which is good to see.

Yura Movsisyan - 4 Yura didn’t really get much of anything going on the night, plain and simple.

Brooks Lennon - 5 Lennon was putting in work on both sides of the ball and put in as tough of a shift as anyone.

Luis Silva - 5.5 Silva came on and created some half chances for RSL, but really needs more time to get into any sort of rhythm.

Sebastian Saucedo - 6 Bofo was a bright spot when he came on for the last 20 minutes or so. He did as much in the way of shots and shots on goal in that short time as anyone else for RSL.
