Player ratings: RSL 3-0 Vancouver

A new chapter started with a wild win.

MLS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 5.5 Kudos to Rimando for bouncing back from a subpar game last week and making three saves in uncertain conditions.

Danilo Acosta - 6.5 Acosta got right in the thick of things in his MLS debut making creative passes and playing with confidence. He impressed.

Chris Schuler - 6 Schu was dominant in the air and was clearly the leader of the defense. He was very good.

Chris Wingert - 6 Wingert played smart and went largely unnoticed which in this case was a good thing since he was filling in at CB.

Demar Phillips - 6 I think it's safe to say that Phillips is not accustomed to playing in the snow since he was slipping around more than anyone, but his intensity level never waivered.

Kyle Beckerman - 6 Beckerman was right in the mix when needed, providing support to the back line.

Luke Mulholland - 7.5 Luke was a defensive stopper and chipped in with a goal and some good creativity.

Albert Rusnak - 9 Rusnak had a goal to get RSL on the board and then assisted on the other two goals. Call it a breakout performance.

Brooks Lennon - 6.5 Lennon once again provided a lot of chances for his teammates and didn't lose a step in bad conditions.

Yura Movsisyan - 7 Yura gave RSL a nice insurance goal in slippery snow and was a leader on the field. He had a couple other looks he could have done more with as well.

Joao Plata - 6 Plata didn't convert on some good looks, but he had the assist on Rusnak’s goal and was continually threatening.

Substitutions

Sebastian Saucedo - 5.5 Bofo had a hard time getting his footing coming on when the playing conditions were poor, but he definitely deserved the minutes.
