Good news, folks. Our Designated Player is getting more and more acclimated in MLS. Against New York City FC, he was the best player on the field for either team.
His goal was quality, plain and simple. He shifted the defense one way, then shot the other direction getting it off with his left foot. We now know that he is a threat with either food and that he cane really get everything on it. That takes skill.
The goal wasn’t his only positive. He got a few shots off that gave RSL some good chances to score. He took six corner kicks. And he assisted on the game-winning goal from Aaron Maund.
This isn’t to say that he didn’t have help. Savarino did plenty to put Rusnak in a position to succeed, and the chemistry there was fantastic for having only played a handful of minutes together.
It’s safe to say that we can expect plenty more from Rusnak from here on out. Perfect timing.
