Player Ratings: RSL 1-0 Philadelphia Union

So many good performances against the City of Brotherly Love.

MLS: Philadelphia Union at Real Salt Lake Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 6.5 Every one of Rimando’s saves were critical being that it was a one goal differential. He was composed for the entire match and made sure that the anxiety we experienced towards the end didn’t lead to complete disappointment. He kept the Union off the board.

Tony Beltran - 7 Tony brought a composure to the team that we haven’t seen in a while. His presence and skill were missing for the past couple of months and many of us forgot just how good he is. His battles were fun to watch because he came out on top of most of them.

Chris Schuler - 6 Schuler and co. did everything in their power to earn a clean sheet. Schuler in particular stood tall and keep things pretty quiet around him.

Aaron Maund - 6.5 The goal line save was obviously Maund’s highlight, and what a save it was. He had a very clean game in addition.

Chris Wingert - 6 Wingert had a poor touch or two, but overall was really good and looked much more comfortable on the outside than he does in the center back position.

Sunny - 7 Sunny had his best game in a RSL jersey that he has had for a very long time. He looked every bit a great option to replace Beckerman who was out on suspension. He broke up multiple plays and was much sharper on the ball than we’ve seen for a good while.

Luke Mulholland - 6 Luke put in another tough shift and was busy helping on the defensive end. He battled against one of the best midfield groups in MLS.

Albert Rusnak - 6.5 Rusnak once again played with a calm confidence and did a lot to create chances for his club. He had a great chance that got away from him, which doesn’t happen often.

Joao Plata - 7.5 Plata was all over the field putting in a huge amount of work. He had some great shots and finally broke his goalless streak putting in the game-winner. His play looked like the Plata we got used to seeing the past few seasons. Hopefully this was his homecoming.

Luis Silva - 6.5 Silva played very well in a starting role again. He was very unlucky not to score with Andre Blake coming up with some massive stops.

Jefferson Savarino - 7 Jefferson needs a nickname. Maybe is “The Creator”. He creates so many chances when he’s on the field and is always looking towards goal. He notched an assist in a beautiful set up between him and Plata.

Yura Movsisyan - 6 Yura came on with about 25 minutes to go and looked very hungry. That’s what you want to see out of your highest paid player.

Justin Schmidt - N/A
