Ricardo Velazco scores first RSL goal, only bright spot in poor first half

The homegrown product put his name on RSL’s scoresheet for the first time.

Ricardo Velazco hasn’t been with Real Salt Lake for long, having signed in September 2016 after impressing repeatedly for Real Monarchs. And now, in only his second first-team start, he’s scored his first competitive goal for the club.

Velazco, a product of the Real Salt Lake Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona, took his strike extremely well, running at two center backs before opening space for a shot from outside the box.

Of course, Velazco’s first-half strike wasn’t enough to keep the club level for more than 15 minutes, as RSL finished the first half down 3-1 to Sacramento.
