Real Salt Lake’s purported effort at signing Bursaspor midfielder Cristobal Jorquera — never confirmed in any official way by the club — looks to have ended, with Turkish media reporting on Sunday that the player will remain in Turkey.
Reports about Jorquera, 28, and Real Salt Lake, have lately focused on an apparent different in salary offered and salary demanded. The latest report indicates that Jorquera posted on social media about staying at Bursaspor.
Efforts to find that particular post have been unsuccessful, although this is certainly consistent with earlier reports that there was that wage discrepancy.
It’s unclear whether RSL would have paid any fee to Bursaspor for the player’s rights, but it’s unclear whether there was any actual interest from RSL, or if this was a case of a club being linked to a player by agent talk.
The second transfer window in the U.S. opens today. Real Salt Lake has already confirmed the signing of Uruguayan center back Marcelo Silva.
