Kyle Beckerman was shown a red card during RSL’s 4-1 win over Portland Timbers for, well, very close to nothing.
Unsurprisingly, Mike Petke indicated in his post-match press conference that the club will likely be appealing Baldomero Toledo’s judgment, and rightly so.
Here — check out the red card here.

It’s entirely clear why Fanendo Adi is handed a red card — he barrels into Beckerman (violent conduct, certainly) and continued the confrontation on the ground. To Beckerman’s credit, the fiery captain’s response was to look at the referee and question the incident — not exactly red card material.
Not a red for @KyleBeckerman horrible call

Not even a yellow for Beckerman! Adi just lost his head! Come on Toledo. Your Zebra score will reflect that call

And there’s bipartisan agreement on this one, too:
*By far* the worst call of the evening was red to Beckerman. Runner up: This autocorrect suggestion. pic.twitter.com/Jzj3ZlafPG

Needless to say, there’s a very strong chance this one is appealed, unless Beckerman said something ridiculous to the referee. And given that, there’s a very strong chance any appeal will be successful. For once, things might actually go our way on this one.
