Player Ratings: RSL 1-1 Sporting KC

The players fought hard to earn their scores.

MLS: Sporting KC at Real Salt Lake Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 6 Nick got himself a couple of timely saves to keep RSL in the fight. The distribution was good and he helped build out of the back.

Danilo Acosta - 6.5 Danny is starting to build off of his strengths and deliver some great through balls to set up the midfield and forwards. He also had some great moments defensively.

Marcelo Silva - 5 Silva had a very up and down MLS debut. He headed a ball off the crossbar and had some moments reminiscent of Olave when he showed speed and strength to win plays. He also committed the penalty to give Sporting KC the chance to level. Just before the penalty, he had a poor clearance that allowed KC to immediately turn around and push forward. I’m confident we’ll see more of the good things going forward.

Justen Glad - 6 Glad was in a lot of the right spots and played a smart game, but had a few mishits as well.

Tony Beltran - 6.5 Beltran had two shots on goal and battled as hard as anybody in defense.

Luke Mulholland - 6 Luke had the big task of filling Beckerman’s shoes and did pretty well. He probably put as many miles on his cleats as anyone.

Stephen Sunny - 5.5 Sunny’s passing was questionable for much of the night and he looked frustrated when the refs seemed to be singling him out.

Albert Rusnak - 6 Rusnak had plenty of key passes and showed his vision for the game. He is consistently one of RSL’s best players game in and game out. On the downside, he should have buried his chance to win the game with about 10 minutes left.

Jefferson Savarino - 6 Savarino surely wants a couple of his chances back, but he did really well to work the ball around the KC defense on multiple occasions.

Luis Silva - 7 Silva was so unlucky to not have a brace. The goal he did have was a nice one for sure, and his hold up play was a spectacle to behold. He is playing with confidence right now.

Joao Plata - 7 Plata was once again putting everything he had on the field and did his work on both sides of the ball. He was rewarded with an assist with his play to Silva.

Substitutions

Brooks Lennon - 5.5 Lennon came on when things were hot and heavy and was unable to have too much of an influence, but he fought as hard as anyone else on RSL.
