Luis Silva has really been rounding into form lately and over the past few games was very unlucky to not score a goal. Until the Manchester United game that is.
Scoring against one of the best clubs in the world absolutely had a positive effect on his confidence, and sure enough, it carried over against Sporting KC. Silva scored RSL’s lone goal on the night and it was a fantastic one touch finish to the side net to beat Tim Melia, one of the best keepers in MLS.
The goal is one thing. But his hold up play and play-making up top were as good as we have seen from him or anyone all season. Had he converted his chances towards the end of the game, it would have been one of the best games of his career.
Beyond all this, the most important thing is that it looks like Silva has returned to form and found his confidence. Given his strengths, that will play out very well for RSL’s attacking approach.
