Player Ratings: RSL 2-2 Columbus Crew

A tie at home isn’t quite good enough.

MLS: Columbus Crew SC at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 5.5 It’s not very often you see Rimando get pulled out of position and beat, but the Crew were able to do that. On the other hand, Rimando was able to stop a couple of their shots that looked destined for goal.

Danilo Acosta - 6 Acosta didn’t have a ton of defensive highlights, but he was pretty good going forward.

Marcelo Silva - 5 Silva and Glad haven’t quite worked out their communication yet. The two Columbus goals came because of poor giveaways and some defensive breakdowns in the back. Silva won some battles and but other times he ended up in bad positions. His passing was a bit risky as well, but all of this will improve the more he is on the field in MLS.

Justen Glad - 4.5 Glad uncharacteristically got beat a few times and the Crew made RSL pay for it. His clearances were not what they should have been. A young player is bound to have a game like this once in a while.

Tony Beltran - 5.5 Beltran was alright, but Meram got the best of him in their battles for the ball. He fought hard though.

Kyle Beckerman - 6 Beckerman found himself in a lot of the right positions and broke the Crew down a few times, but his passes to set up the forwards were a bit heavy.

Stephen Sunny - 5.5 Sunny was good in getting past defenders but was not as sharp in his passing as we saw in the past few games.

Albert Rusnak - 5.5 Rusnak probably wishes he could take a couple of his chances over again, but he was once again smart about when and how to set up the forwards.

Jefferson Savarino - 7 Savarino had his first home goal for RSL and it was a very composed finish. He was one of the few RSL players that was able to convert offensive attacks into scoring chances. All three of his shots were on goal.

Luis Silva - 6.5 Silva’s combination play is so fun to watch. He is able to set up the wingers incredibly well. He could have done more with his scoring chances, but he did get the assist on Savarino’s goal.

Joao Plata - 7 Plata was not afraid to pull the trigger and had a couple of close ones, but his finishing ability wasn’t quite there. That said, much of RSL’s effective attacks went through him.

Brooks Lennon - 5 Lennon came on later in the game trying to get that elusive third goal, but he was unable to create too much in the was of clear opportunities.

Yura Movsisyan - 5.5 Yura was better in his passing than he was in getting on the end of balls to score.

Bofo Saucedo - N/A
