Player Ratings: LA Galaxy 2-6 RSL

Whoever that team was last night, they were good.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Los Angeles Galaxy Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 5.5 Rimando didn’t have a very busy night, really. RSL was pretty well in control of the game so he wasn’t as occupied as normal. He made a couple saves, but nothing game-changing.

Demar Phillips - 6.5 You have to love Demar’s aggressive play. He didn’t hesitate to make a hard tackle or dig in to win a ball. He also picked up an assist on Yura’s goal.

Aaron Maund - 6 Clearly, Maund’s highlight was the goal line clearance on Boateng that could have been a real gut punch. Besides that, not a standout game, not a bad game either.

Justen Glad - 6 Glad had a pretty good game but he had a couple of clearances that didn’t really...clear. He put RSL in a couple of shaky spots, but overall he is still very much a steady presence on the field.

Tony Beltran - 6 Beltran was tasked with defending Emmanuel Boateng much of the time which is no small order considering his speed and skill. And we all know what he has done to RSL in the past. But Beltran was up for it and came out ahead all but one time.

Kyle Beckerman - 7 Beckerman had a go-ahead goal late in the first half that gave RSL a much-needed shot of confidence heading into the tunnel. He dispossessed the Galaxy on multiple occasions. And his Robbie Keane “tribute” goal celebration? One of the best ever.

Luke Mulholland - 5 Luke put in a ton of work, but his passing accuracy wasn’t good enough. In fact, only 60% of his passes were completed. He did set up Rusnak nicely on the first RSL goal though.

Albert Rusnak - 8.5 A goal and two assists. That in and of itself is a fantastic game. But he was also involved in almost all of RSL’s scoring chances. A fantastic showing for Rusnak.

Jefferson Savarino - 8 Savarino broke through and got his first two goals in MLS play against the Galaxy. I have a feeling there is plenty more to come, and the timing couldn’t be better.

Yura Movsisyan - 6.5 Yura had four shots and converted one. He seemed to lose the ball a fair amount of times when RSL was trying to work the ball up the field, but his goal was a good one to be sure.

Joao Plata - 6.5 Plata probably could have done a bit more with his chances, but he had a fantastic goal dancing around a defender and the keeper. It was a deserved goal for all the work he has put in over the past few games. We have missed the dancing.

Substitutions

Brooks Lennon - 6.5 Lennon didn’t have a ton of time to work with, but he assisted Plata on the last goal.

Bofo Saucedo - N/A

Ricardo Velazco- N/A
