Real Salt Lake head coach Mike Petke said it best about the connection between Albert Rusnak and Jefferson Savarino: “It was magic.” Both played exceptionally well, but Rusnak was involved all over the field. He contributed on defense throughout the game, and his defense directly led to his goal. He was involved in most of RSL’s scoring chances and picked up a credited and an unaccredited assist along the way.
Via @scoutedftbl, let’s look at some of his stats. Against L.A., he had a passing accuracy of 84.9%, three key passes, and both of his shots were on frame. That is some efficient soccer.
His return to the starting lineup after having been away with the Slovakian national team was immediately felt. He brought a confidence and a calm to the team that it had been lacking, but more importantly, he brought the finishing touch.
