Real Salt Lake’s Albert Rusnak has been showing tremendous form for his club, and perhaps it’s no surprise that he’s been called up to his national team for World Cup Qualification next week.
RSL coach Mike Petke revealed that during his press conference on Wednesday while praising Rusnak’s contribution to the team in a 4-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes.
Albert is the type of player that sees plays 2 or 3 seconds ahead of everyone else, and that’s why he is so valuable to us.
Slovakia faces Slovenia on Sept. 1 at 12:45 p.m. Mountain time, then England on Sept. 4 at the same time. Both matches should be streamable in the U.S.; we’ll keep you updated on any of that.
Rusnák played in Slovakia’s last two qualifiers, playing four minutes in March and 13 minutes in June.
Because of the timing, Rusnák is unlikely to miss any time for Real Salt Lake as we take an international window break. RSL returns to action on Sept. 9 in an away match against Vancouver.
