Lineup thoughts

  • The RSL match report doesn’t present any changes to the lineup, so don’t be surprised if Lalo Fernandez is on the bench over Matt VanOekel and Demar Phillips remains out of contention. Marcelo Silva, though? Maybe he’ll get a look. It’s a bit of a mystery. The players out for the season remain out. And Chad Barrett? Well, who knows, really.
  • Luke Mulholland and Sunny are almost certainly the pairing we’ll see, but expect Nick Besler on the bench. Will he get his first MLS and RSL minutes?
  • Will Joao Plata and Jefferson Savarino continue starting together? One would think so, with a break after this match for the FIFA window, but don’t be surprised if Brooks Lennon or Sebastian Saucedo get a look in, either.
  • If Marcelo Silva is unavailable, will David Horst start alongside him? It would seem to be the most sensible plan, especially given Chris Schuler was, at last reckoning, not at 100 percent, according to Mike Petke.
