There was an argument to be made for a few individual players to be awarded Man of the Match. Savarino had some “wow” moments. Rimando had two critical saves. Both Marcelo Silva and Justen Glad came up big more than a few times.
At the end of the match, however, it’s hard to argue against a goal and an assist from Albert Rusnak. He didn’t just find his way onto the stat sheet a couple times, he was distributing the ball extremely well and was involved throughout the entire match, not just in spurts.
Rusnak has proven his worth all season long, but his showing against the Timbers was the epitome of his value. His vision and calm skill on the ball inspires confidence in everyone around him including the fans. He’s the real deal and we’re lucky to have him.
