FIFA 18 ratings released; Joao Plata ranked highest on RSL

The little striker is the top of the pile.

As we continue to care more about video games than perhaps we have any real business doing, we finally have Real Salt Lake’s ratings available for our drooling perusal.

The ratings, via Futwiz, are pretty much as you’d expect, but there are some curiosities packed within.

First, Joao Plata is RSL’s highest ranked player, although he’s dropped a point from last year. There’s likely some sort of continued attempt to normalize ratings, but it doesn’t make you feel awesome to see him drop, especially as he’s had a very good year.

Nick Rimando is tied for second-top-ranked at 72, and he’s dropped a few points as well. Interestingly, his ratings are all quite good. I think he’ll be playing in my midfield from now on. He shares that distinction with Kyle Beckerman and Albert Rusnak.

RSL’s most technically skilled player probably won’t come as too much of a surprise: It’s Jefferson Savarino, who has been quite able this season.

RSL’s lowest-ranked player? That’s Jose Hernandez, which hardly seems fair. He has a 50 on his dribbling ability, which we all know is waaay too low for what we’ve seen from him.

All told, though, there are no real surprises. Plata (73), Rimando (72), Rusnak (72), Marcelo Silva (71), and Yura Movsisyan (70) all rank at 70 or above.

Oh, maybe there’s one surprise. Luis Silva is a striker in the system. Or maybe the surprise is him in real life. I don’t know any more.
