Kyle Beckerman just saved RSL’s playoff hopes

Sometimes, you spend 80 minutes of a match down a player.

Sometimes, you spend 50 minutes of a match down a goal.

And sometimes, Kyle Beckerman rescues your playoff hopes at the death of a match for one reason and one reason only: He is better than you are.

Real Salt Lake’s captain scored in the 5th minute of stoppage time. 95 minutes into the game, not all was lost.

This doesn’t mean we’re going to the playoffs. But it sure means we’re not out of the running yet. It means that we’re in a playoff position now, even though FC Dallas have a game in hand and could pass us. If we’ve learned anything from 2017, it’s that games in hand are absolutely worthless until you play them.

We have two matches left. Only one of the teams behind us has played fewer.

One minute of play has completely changed our season. We might not make it, but at the same time, we might. We can. It’s just not entirely up to us at this point.
