Real Salt Lake lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps after a high intensity game. Real scored twice, but defensive mistakes saw them give up three goals, and in all likelihood the team’s hopes of making the 2017 playoffs.

During the first fifteen minutes of the match, RSL weather a near constant barrage of attacks from the Whitecaps, but Techera finds the back of the net in the 29th minute. Rimando gets his hand on the ball, however it isn’t enough stop the goal.

RSL would draw level in the 37th minute. Chris Wingert’s cross would find the back of the net after Movsisyan jumps for the header, but does not make any contact with the ball. Ousted gets to the ball, but the momentum of ball carries it over the line. It’s Wingert’s first goal since 2010.

The second half would prove equally as exciting as the first. In the 52nd minute, a free kick leads to a header that Rimando pushes wide, but bounces off the post and Kendall Waston is there to finish.

Both sides had several good attacks in the second half and Rimando and Ousted came up with some big saves. Either team was going to give up easily.

A short 12 minutes after their previous goal, the ball is turned over in RSL’s half, which leads to a diving header goal by Yordy Reyna. 3-1 to Vancouver.

RSL worked hard to battle back into the game. Tony Beltran got his first ever MLS goal in the 82nd minute after a beautiful chipped pass from Jefferson Savarino. Real kept the foot on the gas for the remainder of the match, but it wasn’t enough to get a result on the road.
