The big news has finally been revealed, Nick Rimando is back in Claret and Cobalt for the 2018 season!
RSL fans have been kept on edge for a while now, not knowing if their GOAT would be coming back. Today however, that is no longer the case. He’s back ladies and gentlemen.
It was suspected that he may end up retiring or taken by LAFC in the expansion draft, leaving a lot of RSL fans worried. Fans were feeling that if he were going to resign he would have done so early in the offseason, the longer his ordeal continued, the more worried fans became. With a lot of interest from other teams being expressed during the 2017 season, for the first time in many years, fans were uncertain of who would be between the pipes in 2018.
But finally, our uncertainty can be over. Rimando is back. This is obviously a huge signing for Real Salt Lake. With a steady brick wall in back, and firey forwards up front, this season is looking up already.
With just two months until the regular season starts, RSL’s roster is taking a pretty nice shape. The signing of two new forwards, the attack minded midfield we shaped last season, and our wall back behind the pipes, RSL has found all the ingredients to make a pretty impressive roster.
Rimando has won just about every award in the book, most impressively the most shutouts in a career in MLS history. RSL fans are so used to having someone as steady as Rimando in the back, but it sure does feel nice to know he’ll be back for just a little bit longer.
