Just in case you’d forgotten that Real Salt Lake has yet to officially announce a contract extension for Albert Rusnak, the player himself has issued a slightly surprising reminder.
The reporting comes from Salt Lake Tribune beat writer Alex Vejar, who says that Rusnak has said that there will be further light on the situation before the end of the season.
Albert Rusnák gave an update on his contract situation. He said he thinks before the end of season, everyone will know what’s going with it. He added that he’s not focusing on it right now. #RSL

Now, what exactly that means is certainly up for debate.
It’s not the sort of distraction Real Salt Lake needs ahead of our first playoff game in some time, but it does provide confirmation on what I’ve suspected: Albert Rusnak’s contract deal is not done, despite what Stu Holden said on national TV at the end of September.
MLS News: Can confirm @RealSaltLake and Albert Rusnak agreed late Friday to a multi-year contract extension that makes him highest paid player in team history (Close to $2 million per yr). Rusnak chose not to travel with the team yesterday to force through the deal.

What’s the truth behind all this? It’s tough to know at this point. If we lose Albert Rusnak on a cheap transfer during the offseason because he’s forced his way out after not getting a new contract, it will make everything all the more bizarre.
