Player Ratings: RSL 1-4 Portland Timbers

RSL got outplayed at home.

MLS: Portland Timbers at Real Salt Lake Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 4.5 Rimando got left out to dry quite a bit. He made a couple of good saves, but also made some strange decisions, namely, calling for the ball off of a throw in near the corner when Melano was right next to him.

Aaron Herrera - 6 Herrera was able to stay in control on his side for the most part and had a few skill check plays.

Nick Besler - 3.5 Besler lost his mark a couple times for some reason and did not seem to have the bite that a center back needs in a game like this.

Justen Glad - 5 Glad had a few strong plays that prevented goals, but also had some miscommunications that helped Portland score.

Brooks Lennon - 4 This simply was not a good night for Lennon. Too many chances came through his side and Portland seemed to have their way with him. On the Timbers’ third goal, Lennon was there but was still unable to prevent the shot.

Albert Rusnak - 4.5 Rusnak was unable to connect with others like he usually does and his touch was not as sharp as we needed.

Kyle Beckerman - 6 Beckerman was the only starter that played with an edge.

Joao Plata - 6 Plata had a nice assist on Savarino’s goal, but his shots were innefficient.

Corey Baird - 5 Corey was able to stretch the defenders a little bit, but otherwise was unable to accomplish much.

Jefferson Savarino - 6.5 Savarino was the best player on the field for RSL, but it was not his best game by any means. He was visibly frustrated.

Damir Kreilach - 4.5 Kreilach made a good run or two but besides that was ineffective in this game.

SUBSTITUTES

Sunny - 6 Sunny’s play helped cut off spaces that Portland consistently had up to that point. He would have had a greater effect if he started.
