RSL, LAFC match delayed after LAFC supporters throw trash on the field

It’s utter garbage from the MLS newcomers.

MLS: Knockout Round-Real Salt Lake at Los Angeles FC Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake’s playoff match against LAFC has been plagued by an utterly garbage display of “supporter culture” by home supporters, who have spent the bulk of the match throwing garbage at Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando

The match was suspended for five minutes around the 30th minute, immediately after LAFC scored an equalizing goal. Play had been stopped prior to the goal because of that same thing, resumed for the goal, then stopped.

It amped up a match that was already firing on all cylinders, and it was a shameful display of the supporter culture MLS fetishizes.

The match resumed after the five minute break, but it’s worth calling out how ridiculous this all is. It’ll be interesting to see if there is any response from MLS after the match — but one would probably guess that the attention is good enough for them.

We’ll see how this one goes.
