Nick Rimando - 5.5 Rimando only had two saves in Kansas City. One of those saves kept RSL in the game in the second half. Unfortunately, four goals were scored on RSL.
Aaron Herrera - 4.5 Herrera’s inexperience showed itself in this game. He made a couple mistakes that could have cost Real Salt Lake and was on the edge of getting two yellows for much of the second half.
Nick Besler - 3 Besler was directly involved in the first two Sporting KC goals. He simply got lost on his mark two times. That made it an uphill battle for RSL the rest of the way. He then had a chance to tie the game later in the second half and took what was probably an unnecessary touch which made it too late for him to score.
Chinedum Onuoha - 6 Onuoha did not have the perfect game and could have tracked the runner on the first KC goal, but overall he was a life saver a few times.
Brooks Lennon - 5.5 Lennon had a pretty decent game although he was under a lot of pressure for much of the game. On the final KC goal, he probably could have made a cleaner decision, but RSL was way out of balance at that point anyways.
Kyle Beckerman - 6 Beckerman was a huge part of preventing KC from doing more than they did in the game with some goal line saves and a lot of help defense.
Luke Mulholland - 5.5 Mulholland helped out a lot on defense and won a few when RSL desperately needed respite from defense.
Damir Kreilach - 7 Kreilach got another goal off a corner that made KC really nervous for a while. He also had six shots in the game and was one of RSL’s more dangerous players.
Luis Silva - 5.5 Silva did some pretty good stuff while he was on the field. His highlight was his bicycle kick across the goal to create a scoring chance.
Jefferson Savarino - 6 The Venezuelan had a chance to put RSL through to the next round but put the ball just wide left. He was involved for much of the game and suffered a lot of fouls along the way.
Joao Plata - 7.5 Plata was RSL’s most dangerous player throughout the game. He was constantly involved in the attack and ended up with two assists.
SUBSTITUTES
Bofo Saucedo - 7 Bofo breathed life and energy into RSL with his goal to put RSL on the board. He had a nice showing for the second half that he played.
