The National Women’s Soccer League has posted the current list of players who have declared themselves eligible for the 2019 Draft which will take place on January 10th, 2019 in Chicago.
Players have until the day before the draft to add their names to the list, but as of now there are 63 players who will look to join the league’s nine clubs for the coming season. Among those are two Utah talents:
- Defender Amelia Fullmer of Pleasant Grove and Utah Celtic FC has been competing at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX after transferring from Iowa Western Community College.
- Forward/Defender Hailey Skolmoski North of Riverton and Utah Avalanche recently finished her senior season at the University of Utah with a career total of 26 goals in 74 matches before switching to defense this season. She also has played two seasons for Real Salt Lake Women, notching 10 goals for the United Women’s Soccer side.
We may see more local players and others from across America declare before the deadline, but there’s already a strong pool of talent for teams to choose from to bolster their rosters for a year that will see them rely on their depth during the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Utah Royals FC currently only have picks in the third and fourth rounds, the 23rd and 32nd overall picks.
