RSL vs. Toronto, Player of the Match: Corey Baird

2 goals in 2 back-to-back games in 2 leagues

MLS: Real Salt Lake vs. Orlando City SC Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

Deciding the man of the match in this one was tough. Ultimately it goes to Corey Baird. Even without the goal, he was a spark who energized the rest of the team for the second game in a row. Overall an impressive performance and accomplishment for someone of both his age and experience. A true super sub showing up exactly when needed in the Great White North.

Looking forward to the exciting things to come originating from the boot of the young guy from Stanford.

Other Contenders

Demar Phillips - The Jamaican really worked compared to what we have seen in previous games. He fought tooth and nail for every ball that came his way looking like an entirely different player than previously seen this season.

Nick Rimando - Like every game this year Nick came up big, having to do so early and often saving a penalty in the opening minutes of the game. That said ultimately it wasn’t enough to stop one of the best offenses in the league partnered with Allen Chapman attempting to overcompensate for the fact that he lives in Utah. If we’re being honest it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve wanted to leave a flaming bag of dog poop at his door.
