Why RSL will wear black against Colorado Rapids

No, you haven’t stumbled into an amazing dream where Real Salt Lake has switched permanently to wearing all-black kits.

But yes, Real Salt Lake will be donning black on Saturday against Colorado Rapids. They’re not the only team.

If you think back a few years, you might remember RSL wearing a green kit as an Earth Day move. This is like that, but it looks somehow slicker and more produced.

Adidas is partnering with an organization focused on raising awareness about oceanic issues, Parley for the Oceans. They describe their mission thusly:

Parley for the Oceans addresses major threats towards our oceans, the most important ecosystem of our planet.

We believe the power for change lies in the hands of the consumer – given he has a choice – and the power to shape this new consumer mindset lies in the hands of the creative industries.

That partnership is leading to these “Parley” kits.

Of course, these new black kits are already sold out with the Real Salt Lake badge attached. But maybe there are more opportunities to pick them up.
