USL Power Rankings - Week 7

Continuing the change from last week, here’s the full power ranking points and standings all the way back to week 1.

The methodology for my scoring system is the same as I’ve published before. Anything that deviates from the ‘expected’ result (I.E. home team winning) equals a larger change; the expected result will still cause some changes, but often smaller than the surprises. Thus you will see teams that win on the road gaining more ‘power ranking points’ than a home team winning by the same score.

Notice that there are some teams with negative points (Monarchs, Swope, Sacramento, etc...); this is part of the scoring. All teams started out with 0 points at the start of the season; teams that won in the first weeks moved lower (into the negative), and losers moved higher on the chart, wins by large margins widen that gap more; thus you have teams like Real Monarchs with 4 wins (3 on the road); ranked fist while Louisville which has a similar overall win/loss record, but most of theirs came at home (the expected result), and by only 1 goal margins ranked 4th.
