This week in MLS wasn’t super crazy but we did get a couple of insanely cool accomplishments around the league, and some pretty awesome technology up in Vancouver.
Banc of California Stadium opens
The big day for LAFC fans finally came and went. They filled Banc of California stadium to its capacity to cheer on their team in their first ever home match versus the Seattle Sounders. After going 4-2-0 in their first 6 games, all away this season. LAFC has the best road record of any team in the league. LAFC fans were incredibly excited to finally get to see their boys take on a team at home, and what a spectacle it was.

Villa joins the 400 club
Just looking at that number is a big wow. David Villa has scored 400 goals for club and country, his 400th coming in NYCFC’s 3-1 win over FC Dallas Sunday afternoon. Having played for professional soccer since 2000, and for his national team since 2002, he scores on average 22 goals a season. A big congratulations is in order to David Villa on an incredible accomplishment in scoring a ridiculous amount of goals.

Turf-bonis
As per Real Salt Lake commentator Brian Dunseth, a great realization was had during this week of play. They water the grass at halftime in Vancouver with turf-bonis. Watch the video below, it’s incredible. This is truly the most canadian thing ever and it is epic. That’s really all there is to it, I just love this.
