Player Ratings: RSL 2-1 Vancouver

RSL dealt with the choppiness and got three points.

MLS: Vancouver Whitecaps at Real Salt Lake Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 5.5 Rimando had three saves against the Whitecaps, one of them being very difficult from pretty close range. But for as much as the ball was in RSL’s end, Rimando did not have to do too much.

Demar Phillips - N/A

Marcelo SIlva - 6 Marcelo nearly played a half, but went down around the 41st minute and immediately withdrew himself. Up to that point, he was very aggressive and playing with a purpose.

Justen Glad - 5.5 Glad put in a good shift as far as pure defensive play goes, but his passing was amiss for much of the match.

Brooks Lennon - 6.5 Another match as an outside back for Lennon, and he did well for himself once again. He notched an assist to Luis to give RSL the go ahead goal, but also lost track of runners a couple of times.

Kyle Beckerman - 6 The captain played tough and did really well plugging up the middle. He possessed the ball for RSL in desperate times. He also gave the ref an earful but was somehow able to avoid a yellow.

Damir Kreilach - 6.5 Kreilach did really good work to control the ball under pressure and seems to be finding himself on the field. He was also a key part of the Savarino goal and was credited with an assist.

Albert Rusnak - 6 Rusnak played calm and controlled and much more play went through him this match than in the first few.

Jefferson Savarino - 6 Savarino’s decision making with the ball was lacking, but he made a critical run at the end to give RSL their insurance goal.

Luis Silva - 7 Silva did a lot in this match. He did the off the ball work, notched a goal, and really controlled things up top while putting in a lot of defensive work.

Corey Baird - 6 Baird did not see much action offensively until the very end of the game in which he found a streaking Savarino too give RSL its second goal. He got an assist in his first start, and put in a ton of hard work on the other side of the ball.

Adam Henley - 7 Henley came on for his first RSL minutes and showed really well. He provided some much needed speed and skill to solidify the back. It would be hard to not give him more playing time after that performance.

David Horst - 6.5 Horst came on for Marcelo at an odd time and did not miss a beat. He had one of his best matches in an RSL uniform with his solid positioning and leadership.
