Player Ratings: Philadelphia 4-1 RSL

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Philadelphia Union Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 5 Rimando had six saves. They were good saves, no doubt. He kept the horrible game from getting downright embarrassing. But he also made more mistakes than I’ve ever seen him make in a single game. For example, he tried to get a little too fancy with his footwork under pressure and a ball hit his hands before it went into the net.

Pablo Ruiz - 2.5 Ruiz was directly involved in three if not four of Philadelphia’s goals. In his defense, he’s even close to being an outside back.

Marcelo Silva - 4.5 Silva did not have the kind of effect we were hoping for in his return to the starting lineup. Things were shaky in the back all game long even if Silva did have a couple good moments.

Justen Glad - 5 Glad had a handful of positive plays, but it was still a learning game for him.

Adam Henley - 3.5 This was a disappointing showing for Henley. By and large, fans were clamoring for a true outside back to start at the position and when we got it it was a let down compared to what we’ve seen from Henley in previous games.

Kyle Beckerman - 4.5 Even Beckerman couldn’t will his team to save face. He looked frustrated and tried to get things going offensively, but it wasn’t working.

Damir Kreilach - 5 Kreilach had the lone RSL goal that gave RSL fans some hope, but truth be told, he was not very good in midfield for most of the game.

Albert Rusnak - 4.5 Rusnak simply was not dictating the game at all. Much of that was due to his teammates being unable to get him the ball, but he simply wasn’t involved much at all.

Jefferson Savarino - 4 We haven’t seen any consistency with regards to Savarino’s play-making ability from 2017. Every time he tried to create in Philly, they handled it with ease.

Corey Baird - 4.5 Baird did not see much action for 90 minutes. Philadelphia successfully took him and Rusnak out of the picture.

Brooks Lennon - 4 Lennon got worked on his side more than we got used to over the past eight or nine games. It’s not his natural position, but he has had much better games than this one.

Substitutions

Bofo Saucedo - 5.5 Bofo was energetic and did everything to create RSL’s only goal. He was credited with the assist and earned every bit of it.

Nick Besler - N/A
