What we’re watching in Seattle Sounders vs. Real Salt Lake

Real head to the Emerald City in hopes of improving their road form

MLS: Seattle Sounders FC at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake have struggled on the road. Their overall record is 4-6-1, but their road form is an appalling 0-5-1. The silver lining with this match is that the Sounders aren’t looking much better. This could be the game Petke needs to show he can lead the team to a road win.

A Meaningful Response

It’s clear that no one is happy about the road results this season. If you think fans are dissatisfied, I’m confident that the frustration of the coaching staff and FO feel far outweighs that. But there’s no way around it, things must change. Now. We have good players that aren’t seeing the field, for a myriad of reasons, but things need to start clicking to get players contributing. The players that are on the field need to take it up a notch. I’m not sure what exactly is broken, but Petke needs to be the man to sort it out.

Albertless Attack

Something that’s been on our minds this week is, what would RSL look like without Albert Rusnak? Well we’re just lucky enough to face that hardship this week. Rusnak is away with his national team and will miss this game and the next. The question is who can effectively fill his shoes. Hopefully it’s only for two games. I’m not going to dive into all the options of who could step up, but simply that Petke will pick someone and seeing who it is and how that changes the rest of the field will be fascinating.
