RSL vs. Houston, Player of the Match: Sebastian Saucedo

He’s simply caught fire.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at Orlando City SC Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

We could give an in depth analysis about the 21 year old’s performance here, or we could show you my twitter feed. Let’s go with that. Twitter was nothing but Sebastian Saucedo.

The vast majority of these tweets were made before the 25th minute. Kind of a slow start to his career. But don’t sleep on the Park City boy. From breaking up passes, to starting the counter, to skill on the pall to a beautifully placed assist to Luis Silva. The second half for Bofo was substantially less productive in comparison to the first. Being the young player that he is he will go through multiple ebbs and flows in a game. Here’s to hoping he can ride a wave and stick it.

Other Contenders

Damir Kreilach - The Croatian had arguably his best game in an RSL uniform yet. The majority of Bofo’s chances came through him, he provided the game-winning assist (his 4th of he year) to Kyle Beckerman, and hit the post in the 67th minute. Point is, he looked fantastic in Rusnak’s spot to the point that Albert wasn’t missed at all.

Luis Silva - Put his head on a cross fantastically to put it in the back of the net. Opened up space multiple times throughout the game, but other than that was pretty invisible.

Danilo Acosta - Acosta has been missed. Dani Acosta has been missed a lot. The chemistry and connection that the academy kids have with one another is nothing short of phenomenal.

Sunny - The Nigerian had the best game he has had in a long time, perhaps a year when you take into account a multitude of dismal performances last season. It was undoubtedly a pre-facebreaking performance.

Nick Besler - Also had a solid game, even though he had jumped back into his more natural position I think concern was warranted given Houston’s ability on the counterattack, but he had a pretty good game.
