Real Salt Lake and Alfredo Ortuño are no longer a pairing you’ll see much of, with the Spanish striker and his club mutually agreeing to part ways.

In a Real Salt Lake-issued press release, the club announced the news. It came without significant comment.

SANDY, Utah (Monday, July 23, 2018) – Real Salt Lake and FW Alfredo Ortuño have mutually agreed to part ways, the club announced on Monday. The Spanish forward will join Albacete Balompié in Spain’s second division.

Ortuño joined Real Salt Lake on a free deal in the preseason transfer window. He had missed significant playing time after some fairly arcane contract concerns in Spain, and his joining RSL was supposed to be a new opportunity for him.

During his time at Real Salt Lake, Ortuño made three appearances, including one start. The forward registered no shots during that time.

Stay tuned for more RSL transfer news; with Ortuño leaving, the club has a senior roster spot available.
