Is an Albert Rusnak re-signing official?

Sky Sports News understands former Manchester City midfielder Albert Rusnak will snub a number of offers to return to European football, and instead sign an improved contract to stay in the MLS with Real Salt Lake.

Rusnak hinted last month that he was expecting to leave America in this window, with Sparta Prague among the clubs interested in him, but it now looks like he will be staying put, with Salt Lake offering him a new deal until 2021.

I’ve sought confirmation on this, but none has yet been had. Keep an eye on this one.

Is Joao Plata leaving RSL?

I actually was just alerted to that as well. ... I just find it very interesting. We get calls every week about a large number of our players. It’s the nature of our business. We call teams about other players. It’s just very interesting that all of a sudden, something comes out targeting Joao alone. Joao is one of 10 or 12 players that we get called about, not that we call teams about, we get called about on a weekly basis. I just think it’s one of those funny things that a guy who used to work here decides to write an article about one specific player. As of now, we’re getting calls about a lot of players, just like every team is doing right now. There’s nothing to comment on right now about Joao. As a team, you’re always going to take calls, you’re always going to make calls.

Mike Petke on ESPN 700

Obviously, this isn’t a flat-out denial — it’s sort of the opposite, really — but it’s an interesting perspective to think about. Maybe he leaves, maybe he doesn’t. Let’s keep our ears open on this.

Mike Petke on Alfredo Ortuño

We gave him every opportunity, it just wasn’t the right fit. We couldn’t get him up to speed. At the end of the day, the best solution for him for the rest of his career and us for the time being was to part ways. There were never really any issues, it just wasn’t the right fit. ... at the end of the day, it was an amicable split, and now we move on. I know he’s moving on as well.

Should RSL be looking at Fanendo Adi?

We don’t have any quotes about this one, but with news surfacing that Portland Timbers forward Fanendo Adi is looking for a trade from the PNW club, everyone’s talking about RSL looking toward him. Of course, he’d be a target for any number of teams in this league, so I wouldn’t read too much into this one.
