Player Ratings: RSL 4-2 Sporting KC

After the wake up call, RSL really revved the engine.

MLS: Sporting KC at Real Salt Lake Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Rimando - 6 Rimando was only credited with one save, but he was in the mixer a lot when things got nervy in front of RSL’s goal. He captained the team well on the 4th.

Danilo Acosta - 6 Danny made a simple mistake or two, but he made some critical runs to open up space and battled all night.

Marcelo Silva - 6 Silva Had a quietly effective night. His head down style is fun to watch when he makes tackles.

Justen Glad - 7 Glad was as aggressive against Kansas City as he has been all season. He was not afraid to go to ground to win a ball back and was a leader on the back line.

Brooks Lennon - 5.5 Lennon put in the work and was there when duty called to provide help defense. There was one instance where he made a potentially goal-saving stop in the middle. On the flip side, he seemed a little out of position or caught unaware on both KC goals.

Damir Kreilach - 6.5 Kreilach was the only RSL player credited with an assist even though many players chipped in on all of them. He is finding himself more and more with this club and it’s fun to watch because he is such a smart player.

Sunny - 5.5 Sunny had some errant passes, but played a smart and effective defensive game.

Albert Rusnak - 5.5 Rusnak was not quite as effective as he normal, but he put in some good effort. And we all know how his Panenka attempt went on his penalty kick.

Jefferson Savarino - 7 Savarino made things happen when he was on the ball and was justly rewarded with a goal to tie the game up for RSL. A great game from Jefferson.

Corey Baird - 8 What else can be said besides the fact that Baird is proving he is an up-and-coming player that deserves to start? He put in as much or more work than anyone on the field. One of his hustle plays saved a ball in the corner and led to a goal. He also earned a penalty kick even though it ultimately didn’t end up in the net. As pointed out by @mattdoyle76, he is among the highest-scoring US players in MLS right now.

Bofo Saucedo - 6.5 Bofo’s quick transition goal was finished perfectly and the Park City kid got a bit emotional afterwards. He had himself a good game in front of the home crowd.

Substitutions

Luis Silva - 6.5 Silva had an eventful 17 minutes on the field taking three shots and converting a penalty. He had a really effective night as a late sub.
