Real Monarchs pick up GK Adam Grinwis from Orlando City on loan

The move doesn’t spell good things for Nick Rimando’s injury.

Real Monarchs have signed a second player in as many days, bringing in goalkeeper Adam Grinwis on loan from Orlando City SC.

Grinwis, 26, hasn’t played for Orlando, having signed there from USL side Saint Louis FC this year. Prior to his time at Saint Louis, Grinwis played for Rochester Rhinos.

The move shores up the Monarchs’ goalkeeping tandem, which now consists only of Jake Leeker following Andrew Putna’s signing at Real Salt Lake.

This likely means that RSL’s Nick Rimando, who sustained an injury against Los Angeles FC and was forced to leave Wednesday’s match after 45 minutes, will be out for a period with a hamstring injury.

That injury will likely mean Jake Leeker’s call-up to RSL on an emergency call-up basis, which leaves Monarchs with — perhaps — only Dan Jackson available, who is listed as a Monarchs player on USL’s site. He is not listed on the Real Monarchs roster on RSL.com, however.
