RSL linked with former QPR, Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha

In typical midweek “I didn’t expect any rumors for the rest of the year” fashion, Real Salt Lake has been linked with a former QPR and Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha.

That link comes in the form of a report from West London Sport, who say that Onuoha and RSL have been in talks.

Now, this is the only report, so take it with a huge grain of salt, but Onuoha, 31, could certainly join before the roster freeze date if he is not attached to a club — that’s my impression, at least. If memory serves, that’s how Sebastian Jaime joined the club in 2014.

We’ll keep our ear to the ground on this one, but it does raise an interesting question about RSL’s back line if they were to sign Onuoha. It could spell danger for Marcelo Silva, who has now missed several recent matches for injury.

Onuoha played over 200 matches for QPR from 2012 to 2018, and nearly 100 for Manchester City from 2004 to 2012. He was a product of the Manchester City academy.
